Ba Rugby is set to hold its Special General Meeting today at 2 PM at the Bure by Ba Market, urging all registered clubs to send two representatives each. According to BRU Secretary Gaby Kautoga, this meeting provides an essential platform to discuss pivotal rugby matters, particularly in preparation for the 2025 season.
Kautoga highlighted that next year’s 15s season is expected to undergo significant changes, affecting both the FRU tournaments and local competitions. The proposed format includes a Premier Division featuring the top 16 finishers from this season, with the remaining clubs competing in a secondary tier.
A notable point of discussion will be the proposal for automatic relegation and promotion between divisions, though Kautoga emphasized that any decisions will depend on the feedback from the clubs’ representatives. Additionally, Premier Division teams might be required to pay a higher registration fee, in line with the increased prize money they would receive.
Kautoga underscored the importance of democratic participation, urging all clubs to ensure their voices are heard during discussions impacting team dynamics. Key topics on the agenda also include player insurance, player registration, and the code of conduct.
This meeting marks a proactive step towards shaping the future of rugby in Ba, and the inclusivity of all clubs highlights a commitment to collaborative decision-making and community engagement in sports.
