Fijian winger Vinaya Habosi has not faced any charges after his arrest on domestic violence allegations, although reports from France indicate he may face suspension from his club, Racing 92. Habosi was released after his partner chose not to file a complaint against him.
The incident reportedly stemmed from an argument between Habosi and his wife, during which he allegedly pushed her while she was holding their baby. Witnesses have claimed that, after his wife fell, Habosi struck her in the back of the head. Fortunately, their baby was not hurt, and Habosi’s partner declined medical assistance and appeared unharmed.
It has been reported that Habosi was visibly intoxicated at the time and contended that he had neither pushed nor struck his wife. In response to the allegations, Racing 92 issued a statement acknowledging the situation involving Habosi and noted they would withhold further comments pending updates from the relevant authorities. If he is found guilty, it is likely that his contract with the team under coach Stuart Lancaster will be terminated.
Vinaya Habosi made his international debut for Fiji in 2022 and participated in the 2023 Rugby World Cup held in France. He joined Racing 92 in 2023 after parting ways with the Fijian Drua due to a previous serious breach of conduct involving allegations of domestic abuse.
