No charges have been filed against Fijian winger Vinaya Habosi following his arrest on domestic violence allegations, but reports from France indicate that he may face suspension from his club, Racing 92.

Habosi was released after his partner chose not to file a complaint against him. The incident reportedly stemmed from an argument in which the 24-year-old pushed his wife while she was holding their baby. Witnesses stated that after his wife fell, Habosi began to hit her in the back of the head. Fortunately, the child was unharmed during the altercation, and Habosi’s partner declined assistance from emergency services, with no visible injuries.

It has also been reported that Habosi appeared to be intoxicated and denied any accusations of having pushed or hit his wife.

In a statement regarding the situation, Racing 92 said, “Racing 92 has taken note of the facts alleged against its player Vinaya Habosi. Pending further information from the competent authorities, Racing 92 will refrain from any further comment.”

If found guilty, it is likely that Habosi’s contract with Stuart Lancaster’s Parisian team will be terminated. Habosi made his international debut for Fiji in 2022 and participated in the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France. He joined Racing 92 in 2023 after his previous contract with the Fijian Drua ended due to a ‘high-level breach’ of their code of conduct, allegedly involving another domestic abuse case.
