Rugby Star Vinaya Habosi Arrested After Alleged Domestic Violence Incident

Racing 92 player and Fiji winger Vinaya Habosi has reportedly been arrested following a violent incident involving his partner. Reports from France indicate that Habosi was taken into custody on Sunday evening after a drunken confrontation at his home in Plessis-Robinson, Hauts-de-Seine.

Witnesses shared with a French publication that an argument erupted between Habosi and his wife, during which he allegedly pushed her while she was holding their baby. It has been reported that after his wife fell, he proceeded to strike her in the back of the head. Fortunately, the infant was unharmed, and it was noted that Habosi’s partner declined assistance from emergency services and displayed no visible injuries.

Sources also mentioned that Habosi appeared to be intoxicated and contested the allegations, insisting that he did not push or strike his wife.

The winger recently played as a substitute during Racing 92’s 33-20 win over Clermont on Saturday in the second round of the Top 14.

In response to the situation, Racing 92 released a statement acknowledging the allegations against Habosi. They indicated that they would not make further comments until they have more information from the relevant authorities.

This incident marks not the first time Habosi has faced domestic abuse allegations; he joined Racing 92 last year after his contract with the Fijian Drua was cut short. This termination followed a police report filed for a reported assault involving the player in February of the previous year, leading the Drua to end his contract before the start of the 2023 Super Rugby Pacific season.
