Fijian winger Vinaya Habosi has not faced charges following his arrest related to domestic violence allegations, but reports from France indicate that he may face suspension from his club, Racing 92. Habosi was released after his partner chose not to file a complaint.
The incident arose from a dispute where the 24-year-old reportedly pushed his partner while she was holding their baby. Witnesses claim that after his wife fell to the ground, Habosi allegedly struck her in the back of the head. Fortunately, the baby was unharmed, and Habosi’s partner declined assistance from emergency services and appeared to have no injuries.
Sources indicate that Habosi was visibly intoxicated during the altercation and claimed that he did not push or strike his wife. In response to the situation, Racing 92 released a statement acknowledging the allegations against Habosi and stated that they would refrain from further comments until additional information from the authorities is available.
If Habosi is found guilty, it is likely that his contract with the team, led by coach Stuart Lancaster, will be terminated. Habosi debuted internationally for Fiji in 2022 and participated in the 2023 Rugby World Cup held in France. He joined Racing 92 in the Top 14 league in 2023 after parting ways with the Fijian Drua due to a violation of their code of conduct, allegedly connected to a prior domestic abuse case.
