No charges have been filed against Fijian winger Vinaya Habosi after his recent arrest on domestic violence allegations, but reports from France indicate that he may face suspension by his club, Racing 92. Habosi was released when his partner chose not to press charges against him.

The incident reportedly began with a disagreement between Habosi and his wife, during which he allegedly pushed her while she was holding their baby. Witnesses relayed to French media that after his wife fell to the ground, Habosi struck her in the back of the head several times.

Fortunately, the baby was unharmed during the incident, and Habosi’s partner declined to seek assistance from emergency services, showing no visible injuries. It has also been reported that Habosi appeared to be intoxicated and denied pushing or hitting his wife.

In a statement, Racing 92 acknowledged the allegations against Habosi and mentioned that they would wait for further information from relevant authorities before making additional comments.

If found guilty, it is likely that Habosi’s contract with coach Stuart Lancaster’s team could be terminated. Habosi made his international debut for Fiji in 2022 and participated in the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France. He joined Racing 92 in the Top 14 league in 2023 after his previous contract with the Fijian Drua was ended due to a significant violation of their code of conduct, which had involved another alleged domestic abuse incident.
