Rugby Star Under Clouds: Arrests and Allegations Without Charges

No charges have been filed against Fijian winger Vinaya Habosi after his arrest related to allegations of domestic violence. However, French media reports indicate that he may face suspension from his club, Racing 92.

Habosi was released after his partner chose not to press charges. The incident reportedly began with a dispute between Habosi and his wife, during which he allegedly pushed her while she was holding their baby. Witnesses claimed that after his wife fell, Habosi struck her in the back of the head. Fortunately, the baby was unharmed during the incident.

Despite the allegations, Habosi’s partner did not seek assistance from emergency services and appeared to have no visible injuries. It was reported that he was intoxicated at the time and denied any claims of pushing or hitting his wife.

In response to the situation, Racing 92 issued a statement acknowledging the allegations against Habosi. They stated that they would refrain from further comment until they receive additional information from the relevant authorities.

Should he be found guilty, it is likely that his contract with the Paris-based club, led by coach Stuart Lancaster, will be terminated. Habosi made his international debut for Fiji in 2022 and participated in the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France. He joined Racing 92 after leaving the Fijian Drua earlier in 2023 due to a serious breach of their code of conduct tied to previous domestic abuse allegations.
