At just 18 years of age, Setareki Turagacoke made a remarkable debut for the FIJI Water Flying Fijians in their recent 33-19 victory over Spain during their European tour. Hailing from Dakuinuku, Sawakasa in Korovou, Tailevu, Turagacoke not only celebrated his debut but also scored a try, adding to the excitement of the match.
Turagacoke was called up to join the Flying Fijians squad just days before the game, stepping in for the injured Temo Mayanavanua. After being named as a reserve, he quickly made his mark on the field when he was substituted in during the second half.
Currently playing for Stade Français in France, Turagacoke made the move to the club last year following his completion of Year 12 at Lelean Memorial School in Nausori. His rugby journey began at the Eastern Saints Rugby Academy, where he enrolled at the age of 14, and he has also been involved in the FRU HPU Pathway program.
Looking ahead, Turagacoke is expected to receive more playing time when the Flying Fijians take on Ireland in their final match of the European tour this weekend.
This promising young talent illustrates the bright future of Fijian rugby, showcasing that dedication and hard work can lead to significant achievements even at a young age. His debut serves as inspiration for aspiring athletes in Fiji and beyond.
