No charges have been filed against Fijian winger Vinaya Habosi following his arrest on allegations of domestic violence, but reports from France indicate that he may face suspension from his club, Racing 92. Habosi was released after his partner chose not to press charges.
The incident reportedly began with an argument between Habosi and his wife, during which he allegedly pushed her while she was holding their baby. Witnesses claim that after his wife fell, Habosi struck her in the back of the head. Fortunately, there were no injuries to the baby, and his partner declined assistance from emergency services, showing no visible injuries.
Reports suggest that Habosi was intoxicated at the time and he maintains that he did not push or hit his wife. In response to the situation, Racing 92 issued a statement acknowledging the allegations against Habosi and stated that they would refrain from further comments until they receive more information from the relevant authorities.
If Habosi is found guilty, it is likely that his contract with Racing 92, coached by Stuart Lancaster, will be terminated. Habosi made his debut for Fiji in 2022 and participated in the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France. He joined Racing 92 in the Top 14 league in 2023 after his contract with the Fijian Drua ended due to a serious breach of conduct linked to a previous domestic abuse incident.
