Fijian sevens player Ponipate Loganimasi is poised to make his test debut for the Flying Fijians as he steps in for the injured winger Selestino Ravutaumada. Loganimasi, who has demonstrated strong performance in the international sevens circuit, usually plays as a winger in the 15s format. He has been called up as a replacement ahead of the Flying Fijians’ semifinal in the Pacific Nations Cup against the United States.
National Coach Mick Byrne confirmed the roster change, noting that Ravutaumada is currently being monitored following shoulder surgery he underwent last Monday. Byrne indicated that Ravutaumada will be sidelined for a few weeks and will engage in rehabilitation to ensure a complete recovery before rejoining the team for future games.
The match is set to take place tomorrow night at 10:05 PM.
