Joji Nasova, a talented rover for Fiji Airways Fijian men’s rugby sevens, is focused on securing the series title next year. The native of Toge, Ba, was instrumental in his team’s triumph at the HSBC SVNS after participating in 25 tournaments. He credits their success to strong teamwork and collective effort.

At just 26 years old, Nasova has made impressive strides in his career. His robust tackles enabled him to make his debut at the Hong Kong Sevens just four months after representing Fiji at the Pacific Games in Honiara, Solomon Islands. Subsequently, he contributed to the national team’s silver medal achievement at the Paris Olympic Games in July, under the guidance of coach Osea Kolinisau.

“I can only thank God for all He has provided for me,” Nasova expressed, underscoring the importance of teamwork and discipline. He emphasized that their goal for next year hinges on learning from their experiences and collaborating effectively.

Reflecting on his journey, Nasova shared his commitment to rugby as a means to support his family, especially since he did not finish high school or hold a job. With his dedication to the sport, he has found a way to provide for them. Notably, his brother, Iliavi Masori, was also part of the extended national sevens squad, and they had the honor of playing together during the Pacific Games.

The men’s sevens team will take a two-week break before regrouping in January to prepare for the Perth 7s, which is set for January 24-26.

This story underlines the spirit of perseverance and teamwork, showcasing how sports can create opportunities and a positive impact on personal lives. With clear goals and a focus on collaboration, the hopes for the team’s future are bright.
