Setareki Turagacoke, an impressive 18-year-old rugby talent, took to the field for the FIJI Water Flying Fijians in their 33-19 victory against Spain during their Europe Tour. The young player hails from Dakuinuku in Korovou, Tailevu, and made his debut particularly memorable by scoring a try as part of the team’s comeback effort.
Turagacoke joined the Flying Fijians squad just days before the match as a replacement for the injured Temo Mayanavanua. Initially named as a reserve, he made an immediate impact after coming off the bench in the second half.
Currently, Turagacoke plays for Stade Français Club in France, a position he secured after completing Year 12 at Lelean Memorial School in Nausori. His rugby journey began at the Eastern Saints Rugby Academy, which he joined at 14, and he has also been a part of the FRU HPU Pathway.
With the Flying Fijians set to face Ireland in their final match of the Europe Tour this weekend, Turagacoke is anticipated to receive additional playing time, showcasing the potential for a bright future in rugby.
In summary, this debut not only highlights Turagacoke’s personal accomplishments but also emphasizes the strength and depth of talent within Fiji’s rugby programs. His early success can be seen as a promising sign for the future of Fijian rugby on the world stage.
