Rugby Roots: How One Man’s Vision is Transforming Futures

Nilesh Singh, the founder of Niltech Consulting, recognized that his company’s partnership with the Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) was flourishing when he arranged for six Queensland Reds players to visit his former school, Suva Grammar. As a dedicated alumnus, Singh was excited to bridge the international rugby team with the institution where his passion for the sport originated.

The Reds’ visit to Suva in May 2024, coinciding with a match against the Fijian Drua, marked a significant milestone in Niltech’s collaboration with QRU, which had only commenced three months earlier. Following this initial success, Singh’s partnership with the Reds has been renewed for an additional year.

Niltech Consulting’s branding will continue to appear on the team’s playing and training shorts, as well as on the Queensland sevens squad. Singh expressed his satisfaction with the partnership’s achievements, stating, “The partnership has surpassed all expectations. We are very pleased, and long may it continue,” as he reflected on the initial months of collaboration.

He noted that the sponsorship has been beneficial for Niltech Consulting, a digital transformation firm with locations in Brisbane, Malaysia, and soon, East Timor. Singh highlighted the increased visibility of their logo following the Reds’ significant victory over the Crusaders, which demonstrated the partnership’s effectiveness.

For Singh, the importance of this partnership extended beyond corporate relations; it was also about the personal connections and mutual respect he witnessed throughout the collaboration. He mentioned that although three players were scheduled to visit Suva Grammar, six players participated, making a substantial impact on the students from the school’s First XV to the Under-15 teams. He expressed confidence that some of these young athletes might become future Super Rugby Pacific players.

The visit featured highlights such as Reds prop Peni Ravai offering advice to a First XV prop, alongside fellow Reds stars like Seru Uru, Suliasi Vunivalu, and Hunter Paisami, all of whom took time to interact with the students. Singh reaffirmed that the partnership aims to foster rugby in both Australia and Fiji while inspiring the next generation of players.
