Rugby Rivals Clash in Thrilling Fiji Malake 7s Opener!

Day one of the Fiji Bitter Malake 7s showcased exciting rugby matches in both the U21 and men’s divisions, as teams clashed in their pool matches to secure victories.

In the U21 category, five teams emerged undefeated after two pool matches. Vatukoro U21 narrowly defeated Radisson Naduruniu with a score of 12-7 in a tough second pool match, while Village Boys dominated Duiyasana, winning 28-12. TEMC Birdland Brothers continued their impressive form, shutting out Survivor Burotu 10-0. Defending champions AJ Pallets Ba River displayed their strength, overpowering Namara 31-5, and Dominion Brothers Blue concluded the day with a 15-0 victory over Uluisuvani.

Earlier in the first round, Vatukoro opened with a strong 17-5 win against Dominion Brothers Red, and Village Boys showcased their prowess by defeating Survivor Brothers 15-0. TEMC Birdland Brothers marked their presence with a decisive 29-0 victory over Duiyasana, and AJ Pallets Ba River achieved a 12-0 win over Midland.

The men’s division featured its share of intense competition. Reigning Kadavu 7s champions Wardens Gold commenced their campaign with an impressive 19-0 victory over Bularoos Rugby, while Vatukoro Brothers triumphed over Midland with a score of 17-5. Namuaniwaqa delivered a strong performance, dispatching Naiova 19-0, and Fire Rugby won by default against Nawaka.

Hosts Malake secured a thrilling 7-5 win against Viwa Rugby, while Namara Rugby narrowly outpaced Army FTG, 14-7. Dominion Brothers demonstrated their dominance with a 26-0 victory over Yaro Chiefs, and Mataravua One claimed a 29-12 win over Taikita Brothers. The standout performance was delivered by M. Recht Devo Babas, who decisively defeated Senibiau Blues 34-0. Uluinakau Babas also enjoyed a comfortable 19-0 victory over Namacuku Brothers.
