Suva rugby head coach Solo Nute is optimistic about Police Blue’s chances in the Escott Shield grand final against Navy, scheduled for Saturday, September 21.

“I support the Police team and have high hopes for their performance against Navy,” he stated.

He noted that this match is significant as it is the main focus for the team, especially since there are no other competitions like the Skipper Cup.

Nute emphasized the need for Police players to enhance their fitness levels and improve their scrum control. “Game management will be crucial for them to create scoring opportunities,” he remarked.

With the Hibiscus Festival concluded, he urged Suva supporters to come out in large numbers to back their teams during the final.

Looking ahead, Nute mentioned that the Suva team will commence its pre-season training in January next year.

“We will align our schedule with the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) calendar and make necessary adjustments,” he noted, adding that he anticipates seeing players emerging from the FRU High Performance Unit and the Suva setup.

Nute is also eager to integrate a few Fiji Under-20 players into his squad. “Our goal is to blend experienced and young players to strengthen our player pool ahead of the next Skipper Cup,” he added.
