“Rugby Rising Star Chay Fihaki Signs Long-Term Deal with Crusaders”

Chay Fihaki, an emerging rugby talent of Fijian descent, has signed with the Crusaders and Canterbury until 2026.

The versatile back showcased his abilities during the 2024 season, starting 12 of the 14 matches in the Super Rugby Pacific.

At just 23 years old, Fihaki was also chosen to participate in a Barbarians match against Fiji at Twickenham last June and is set to play for Canterbury in the 2024 Bunnings Warehouse NPC.

“I’m very pleased to continue my playing career with the Crusaders,” Fihaki stated. “This club means so much to me and my family; it’s a special place. Playing alongside this group with tremendous support from the coaches and team management, I’m eager to see what we can achieve together over the next few seasons.”

Since making his debut with the Crusaders in 2021, he secured the 15 jersey at the beginning of the 2024 season, marking his first match with two tries against the Chiefs, including an impressive 30-meter run.

Having spent significant time at fullback for the Crusaders and demonstrating his skills on the wing and in midfield, he has emerged as a vital member of the starting backline.
