Rugby Rising Star Chay Fihaki Extends Crusaders Commitment Until 2026!

Chay Fihaki, an emerging rugby talent of Fijian descent, has signed a contract with the Crusaders and Canterbury that extends until 2026.

The versatile back enjoyed a successful 2024 season, starting in 12 of the 14 Super Rugby Pacific matches. At 23 years old, Fihaki has been selected to play for the Barbarians against Fiji at Twickenham in June and will also represent Canterbury in the upcoming 2024 Bunnings Warehouse NPC.

“I’m very pleased to continue my playing career with the Crusaders,” Fihaki expressed. “This club means so much to me and my family; it’s a special place. Playing alongside this group and receiving great support from the coaches and team management, I’m excited to see where we can go together over the next few seasons.”

Since making his debut with the Crusaders in 2021, he took on the number 15 jersey at the beginning of the 2024 season and scored two tries in the first round against the Chiefs, showcasing his skill with a 30-meter runaway try. Fihaki has gained significant experience playing at fullback while also proving his versatility as a winger and in the midfield, establishing himself as an essential player in the starting backline.
