Fiji Rugby Union’s operations manager, Sale Sorokavi, is urging fans to join in supporting the Fijiana XV as they prepare to face the Wallaroos in their first test match of the year. This highly anticipated showdown will take place during a Super Rugby double-header at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, making it a special occasion as it’s the first time the Wallaroos will compete against the Fijiana on home soil.

Sorokavi emphasized the crucial role that fan support plays in the growth of women’s rugby in Fiji. He stated, “We know that women’s rugby is still growing in Fiji, and we would like to have all the fans there… our women need our support.” This sentiment aligns with ongoing efforts by the Fiji Rugby Union to elevate the visibility and engagement of women’s rugby, particularly as they prepare for the upcoming Women’s Rugby World Cup.

In addition to the Fijiana match, the event will feature the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua taking on the Queensland Reds at 2:05 PM, followed by the Fijiana match scheduled for 5 PM. The ticket prices range from $25 for the grass embankment area to upwards of $75 for premium seating, making it accessible for a wide audience to come out and support both teams.

This double-header not only promotes thrilling rugby action but also represents a significant milestone for women’s sports in Fiji. It reflects the ongoing collaboration with Australia, which strengthens their community bonds on and off the field, while also encouraging an enthusiastic environment for fans and athletes alike.

As anticipation builds for the match, there is a palpable sense of hope surrounding the Fijiana as they aim to showcase their abilities against a formidable opponent like the Wallaroos. The event symbolizes a promising future for rugby in Fiji, particularly in fostering women’s competitions and inspiring the next generation of female athletes.

By rallying community support, Fiji Rugby Union hopes to create an unforgettable experience and lay the groundwork for the continued advancement of women’s rugby in the region.
