In comments made by SRU chairman Viliame Draunibaka, he expressed that while formal arrangements are still being finalized, this development represents an important milestone for rugby in the surrounding Suva communities and urban settlements serviced by the union. Draunibaka extended gratitude to the Suva City Council for acknowledging the union’s critical need for enhanced sports infrastructure, which will enable local communities and sports teams to enjoy improved playing conditions.

For more than a century, the Suva Rugby Union has been a pivotal part of the local community, providing numerous young men and women with opportunities to engage in club and community teams. This investment in sports infrastructure is a beacon of hope for the community, fostering not only athletic talent but also a stronger, more cohesive environment for young individuals.
