Fiji Airways Fiji Men’s 7s icon and two-time Olympic gold medalist Jerry Tuwai is set to join the Mike Friday Select 7s team for the much-anticipated McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s, scheduled for January 16-18, 2025, at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka. Tuwai, celebrated for his outstanding skills and leadership on the field, will partner with Welsh 7s star Dr. Luke Treharne, who brings a wealth of experience from the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

Treharne has showcased his talent on the international stage, representing Wales at the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, and Rugby World Cup Sevens. His playmaking abilities and tactical acumen are expected to be crucial for the Mike Friday Select 7s team.

This tournament will not only be Tuwai’s first time playing alongside Treharne, but it will also see the collaboration of international stars such as South Africa’s Rosco Specman and Ireland’s Harry McNulty. The combination of these elite athletes, under the leadership of Mike Friday, promises to enhance the competition at the 2025 Coral Coast 7s.

The event will host 44 teams in total, including 16 men’s teams, 16 youth teams, and 12 women’s teams. In the men’s division alone, 8 international teams will compete alongside 8 local teams, setting the stage for thrilling rugby action. With such an incredible lineup, the McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s is poised to deliver unforgettable moments for rugby enthusiasts worldwide.
