Rugby Legend Waisale Serevi Hospitalized: Fans Rally for His Recovery

Fiji 7s rugby legend Waisale Serevi is currently hospitalized in India due to chest pains. Serevi, who serves as the head coach for both the men’s and women’s 7s teams in India, recently led the women’s team to a silver medal at the Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Trophy held in Nepal. He was rushed to the hospital on October 10.

Rugby India announced on social media, “We wish our 7s Head Coach, Waisale Serevi, all the very best in his recovery. We shall provide another update in 24 hours.” They added that he is stable and in good spirits.

According to a report from Manipal Hospital, Serevi’s coronary angiogram revealed minor coronary artery disease. The hospital confirmed that he is stable and plans to transfer him out of the ICU soon.

In a show of support, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka extended his warmest wishes to Serevi for a swift and complete recovery, stating, “Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. Get well soon.”
