Rugby League Memories Ignite Excitement in Fiji’s Sports Program

As the school holidays commenced on Monday, August 26, students eagerly took part in the “Give it a go” sports program organized by the Fiji Sports Council in collaboration with the Fiji National Sports Commission.

The program features numerous sports partners representing soccer, swimming, tae kwon do, hockey, and the NRL team, who are thrilled to reconnect with participants and promote Rugby League among children during the break.

One standout participant, 15-year-old Meehika Singh from Jai Narayan College, impressed the development team with her talent and enthusiasm. She expressed her enjoyment of the program, reminiscing about her earlier experience when the NRL team visited her school, Nehru Primary, in 2016. Meehika recalled receiving her own rugby league ball and a certificate for being the most engaged participant, highlighting how much fun she had.

“I’m so happy to see the team again and take part in the NRL program,” Meehika said.

The “Give it a go” program will be ongoing until Friday, September 6, in Suva. For registration details, individuals are encouraged to contact the Fiji Sports Council directly.
