The Ba Town Council announced that the newly redeveloped Govind Park was considered as the venue for the upcoming Vodafone Deans Trophy final. However, its availability is in question due to existing bookings from the Ba Football Association. The FSSRU stated in a recent circular that this will be the first time the finals are held at Govind Park in Sigatoka, but conflicts have arisen with football scheduling.

Moshim Khan, the special administrator chair of the Ba Town Council, indicated that while they are willing to host the prestigious rugby final, they would need football and rugby associations to negotiate a solution. Currently, the football association has the venue booked for three days during the same week, while the Deans final is only set to take place for one day.

The FSSRU had earlier considered Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka as an alternative venue for the finals, but as of now, no confirmed arrangements are in place, leaving the organization back at square one just three weeks before the finals.

This situation highlights the need for better venue management and communication among sports organizations. It also presents an opportunity for collaboration, as the FSSRU is focused on maintaining the integrity and excitement of the competition while adapting to logistical challenges.

The quarterfinal matches for the Deans Trophy are still on track, slated to take place at Prince Charles Park in Nadi and Churchill Park in Lautoka next weekend, ensuring that the momentum for youth rugby in Fiji continues despite these hurdles.

The current developments showcase the resilience of the FSSRU and their commitment to providing a platform for young athletes, fostering community engagement through rugby.
