Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica, who also serves as the Communications Minister, has announced that the HSBC SVNS World Series for 2024/2025 will be broadcast live and free-to-air on Mai TV. This new arrangement, established between Digicel and Mai TV, is seen as a significant development aimed at making rugby more accessible to fans across Fiji.

The agreement allows Mai TV to air all matches from the pool stages to the cup finals, which is an expansion from the previous setup where Mai TV only showcased the Fijian team’s matches during last week’s Dubai 7s. This decision to broaden coverage comes in response to various frustrations expressed by rugby enthusiasts regarding the limited coverage during the Dubai 7s, in which both the Fiji Airways men’s and women’s 7s teams participated.

The partnership between Digicel and Mai TV not only enhances broadcast opportunities for rugby fans but also represents a transition between national broadcasters who have historically aired the series live and free-to-air.

As anticipation builds, the Cape Town 7s is set to commence tonight at 7 PM and will run through until Monday.

In a positive light, this development reflects a commendable effort to enhance sports accessibility and engagement within the Fijian community, ultimately fostering a deeper connection between the public and their national teams. This transition could pave the way for more inclusive and comprehensive sports coverage in the future, ensuring that fans remain connected to the events they cherish.
