The President of Fiji, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, commended the collaborative efforts of schools, organizers, parents, and sponsors in creating a nurturing environment for secondary school rugby.

Addressing attendees at the 85th Fiji Secondary Schools Under 18 Deans final held at HFC Stadium, President Katonivere highlighted the important role rugby plays in the development of young Fijians.

“It is joyous to celebrate rugby moments at home, particularly those that involve our students—our children,” he remarked. “This event marks a significant milestone as we celebrate 85 years of Fiji Secondary School Rugby and the final of the 2024 DEANS Competition.”

He encouraged student athletes to value their experiences and friendships, and to aim for greater achievements in the following year.

“There are many young boys and girls who aspire to be in your position. Enjoy the moment. Treasure the friendships. Embrace the lessons learned and strive to return as better players next year,” he said.

Additionally, he expressed his sincere gratitude to parents and supporters for their steadfast dedication to the players’ welfare.
