Rugby Coach Optimistic for Match Against All Blacks

FIJI Water Flying Fijians coach Mick Byrne is pleased with the team’s progress as they prepare for their upcoming Test match against the New Zealand All Blacks in San Diego, USA, next Saturday.

He notes that the Drua players are integrating well with those from the Northern Hemisphere, particularly in set-pieces.

Byrne emphasizes the strong connections within the team, highlighting the importance of family ties that naturally bond the players.

“They have experienced each other in campaign mode; it’s very good with a lot of high energy as there always is with Fijians around. The boys are enjoying each other’s company,” said Byrne.

He believes this camaraderie will benefit the team in their upcoming match.

“I’ve noticed some strong connections within the team, which is amazing to see.”

Byrne also underscores the importance of early preparation for the next Rugby World Cup and is focusing on developing the team’s set-pieces.

“It’s an exciting time for Fiji Rugby. We have plenty of time to get ready for the next Rugby World Cup. Right now, we’re focusing on our set-pieces for the upcoming test match.”

He added, “I just need all the players to step up and be the strong, physical team that we know we can be, and let’s take on the match together.”

The Flying Fijians play the All Blacks at 2.30 pm next Saturday at the Snap Dragon Stadium.
