Roy Krishna, the 37-year-old striker for Odisha FC, will unfortunately miss the remainder of the 2024-25 Indian Super League (ISL) season due to a serious Grade 3 ACL injury. The injury occurred during a match against Hyderabad FC, marking a significant setback for the Kalinga Warriors just ahead of their upcoming game against Mumbai City FC at Kalinga Stadium.

Krishna has been a key player for Odisha FC since joining last season, having participated in nine games this season, during which he scored three goals and started in approximately 60 percent of the matches. His absence is likely to leave a substantial gap in the team’s offensive strategy, as he has been instrumental in their recent successes.

Odisha FC’s head coach, Sergio Lobera, expressed his disappointment over the loss of such a vital player, acknowledging both Krishna’s footballing talent and professionalism. He highlighted the importance of unity and focus among the team during this challenging time, stating, “Setbacks like these are hard to accept, but we must keep moving forward as a team.”

Despite the challenges posed by Krishna’s injury, the club still possesses a pool of talented players. Lobera is expected to rely on the skills of experienced forwards like Diego Mauricio and Jerry Mawhmingthanga to fill the gap and maintain their offensive output.

As Odisha FC currently sits in third place in the league, they remain hopeful for a strong finish this season. Moreover, the community strongly supports Krishna during his rehabilitation process, eagerly awaiting his return to the pitch.

This situation serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of sports, highlighting the resilience of players and teams in the face of adversity. With determination and teamwork, Odisha FC aims to adapt to this setback and continue striving for success in the ISL.
