Fiji’s football captain Roy Krishna has officially ended his tenure with Odisha FC, attracting significant attention as he recovers from a serious knee injury. The 36-year-old veteran, a significant player in the Indian Super League (ISL) since 2019 with previous clubs including ATK (now Mohun Bagan Super Giants) and Bengaluru FC, suffered a Grade 3 ACL injury last November. After undergoing surgery in December, he embarked on rehabilitation which he initially completed with Odisha FC. He is now in the final stage of his recovery at Rapid Sports in Bangalore.
“I’m feeling strong again,” said Krishna, reflecting on his determination. “This was a setback, not the end. I’ve worked hard and I’m ready to get back on the pitch.” With his rehab set to conclude in June, Krishna plans to return home to spend time with family while exploring opportunities with potential new clubs.
Krishna’s management team is in active discussions with multiple clubs as they seek the right fit for his return to the field. Despite the challenges he faced due to injury, his motivation to contribute to both club and country remains unwavering. “I still have more to give to club and country. I’m motivated and focused on what’s next,” he affirmed, confirming his availability for the national team as Fiji prepares for the King’s Cup in Thailand later this year.
His resilience symbolizes a positive outlook in sports, demonstrating that setbacks can lead to comebacks. With fans and teammates rallying in support, Krishna’s commitment to making a strong return offers hope and inspiration for aspiring athletes in Fiji and beyond. As he nears a return to the pitch, the football community looks forward to celebrating his achievements and the positive impact he will continue to have on the sport.
