Digicel Fiji Football team captain Roy Krishna will not participate in the opening match of the FIFA International “A” Friendlies Tri-Nations Series against the Solomon Islands next week. This match is set for September 2 at 7 PM at HFC Bank Stadium in Laucala Bay, Suva.

Following the Fiji vs. Solomon Islands game, the Solomon Islands will play against Hong Kong-China on September 5 at the same venue, while Fiji will conclude their matches with a game against Hong Kong-China on September 8 at 3 PM at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

Kartik Reddy, the team manager of the Bula Boys, mentioned that the squad is currently in its second week of training under head coach Rob Sherman. The training camp includes 26 players, featuring the recent addition of New Zealand-based Samuela Kautoga from Rewa. The team’s focus during this period is on strengthening, conditioning, tactics, and technical skills through two training sessions per day.

Reddy also indicated that the final squad will be announced this week before relocating the training camp to Suva. “Four players will be excluded from the squad, which will be decided by the coach this week,” Reddy said. He confirmed that captain Roy Krishna will miss the opener against the Solomon Islands but is expected to return for the match against Hong Kong-China.
