Digicel Fiji Football team captain Roy Krishna will not play in the opening match of the FIFA International “A” Friendlies Tri-Nations Series against the Solomon Islands next week. The match is set for September 2 at 7 PM, taking place at HFC Bank Stadium in Laucala Bay, Suva.

After this matchup, the Solomon Islands will compete against Hong Kong-China on September 5 at the same venue, while Fiji will face Hong Kong-China on September 8 at 3 PM at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

Team manager Kartik Reddy mentioned that the squad is currently in the second week of training under head coach Rob Sherman. With 26 players in the camp, including New Zealand-based utility player Samuela Kautoga from Rewa, the team is dedicated to enhancing their strength, conditioning, tactics, and technical skills through two daily training sessions.

Reddy confirmed that the final squad will be announced this week before the team relocates its camp to Suva. He noted that four players will be cut from the squad, a decision that will be made by the coach. Reddy also stated, “Captain Roy Krishna will miss the match against the Solomon Islands and is expected to join the team for the game against Hong Kong-China.”
