Una Masibilo from the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre (FWCC) recently participated in a collaborative trip to Rotuma organized by the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection and the Online Safety Commission. The primary aim of the initiative was to raise awareness about critical issues such as child abuse and neglect, violence against women and girls, and the alarming trend of technology-facilitated violence affecting these vulnerable groups.
During the sessions, attendees received essential information regarding reporting pathways for such incidents, the support available for survivors, and the collective responsibility of the community in ensuring the safety of women, girls, and children. These informative workshops are part of ongoing efforts to foster a safer environment within communities, emphasizing the importance of awareness and education in combating these pervasive issues.
The Royal Australian Air Force also played a crucial role in this initiative by providing the necessary flight support to facilitate the trip to Rotuma. Such partnerships and community outreach efforts are pivotal in addressing and mitigating violence, thereby fostering a more secure future for all members of society.
This initiative showcases the commitment of various organizations to combat violence and promote safety, highlighting the positive impact of collaboration in driving change within communities.
