Rotuma Heavy Rain Warning Remains in Force as Fiji Faces Widespread Showers and Thunderstorms

Weather Update

Greetings from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi! It’s Friday night, and if you thought the forecast was all sunshine and rainbows, think again! Here’s what’s brewing in the weather cauldron.

A trough of low pressure has decided to settle in just east of us. Think of it as the weather’s version of a moody teenager—associated clouds and showers are grumpily affecting the eastern and northern parts of our beautiful archipelago.

Looking forward to midnight tomorrow, expect those charming cloudy periods to keep you company, especially over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Kadavu, and their petite island friends, as well as the Northern Division, Lau, and Lomaiviti groups. And don’t be surprised if some of those showers decide to be a bit heavier—it’s the weather’s way of saying, “Surprise!”

The Northern Division including Taveuni and its tiny buddies will see showers becoming more frequent from tomorrow. Meanwhile, the rest of us can enjoy some fine conditions, except for those sneaky isolated showers trying to crash the afternoon tea party.

Winds will tease us mildly from the southeast to northeast but don’t worry, they’ll shift more towards the northwest and southeast later on, like a weather forecaster who can’t make up their mind. Meanwhile, moderate seas are responding nicely to all this atmospheric drama.

Now, let’s peek into Sunday: you can expect everything to be relatively fine, with a brief shower or two trying to steal the spotlight over parts of Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri, Cakaudrove, Southern Bua, Lau, Lomaiviti groups, Taveuni, and Kadavu. Thunderstorms might even swing by Viti Levu in the afternoon, adding a bit of spice to your Sunday plans!

Here’s the local low-down:

For Navua / Suva / Nausori: Cloudy periods with showers. Tomorrow expect a cozy Min: 23, Max: 30. Sunday looks fine with similar temps.

For Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Quite the charmer with fine weather, but don’t ignore those isolated afternoon showers. Tomorrow, brace for Min: 24, Max: 30, and Sunday keeps it consistent.

For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Just a hint of afternoon showers tomorrow, with a Min: 24 and a sizzling Max: 33. Sunday promises more sunshine, but those pesky afternoon showers could drop by.

For Tavua/Rakiraki: Also enjoying fine weather overall but with afternoon showers waving hello. Tomorrow, you’ll love a Min: 24 and Max: 31, while Sunday may feel similar.

For Natadradave/Korovou: Expect a showery welcome tomorrow with Min: 23, Max: 29. Sunday should bring a bit of sunshine with a brief shower.

For Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Fine places with the slightest hint of shower drama. So, prepare for a Min: 23 and Max: 31 tomorrow, while Sunday rolls in the same vibe.

For Labasa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu, and Taveuni: All of you are in for a cloudy rollercoaster full of showers that will get more frequent tomorrow! Min: 24 and Max: 31 for most. Sunday looks a bit brighter, but brief showers are ready to make their guest appearances.

For Lau and Lomaiviti Group: Expect showers tomorrow, with Min: 23 and Max: 28, then a sprinkle of showers for Sunday.

For Kadavu: Cloudy and cozy tomorrow with showers, and a Min: 22, Max: 29. Sunday throws in a brief shower for good measure!

For Rotuma: A HEAVY RAIN WARNING is in effect. Embrace the wet weather with some occasional rain and thunderstorms. Tomorrow, Min: 24 and Max: 30. Sunday keeps the clouds but should lighten up a bit.

Stay dry, folks, and remember—every cloud has a silver lining, even if it’s just a chance to enjoy a good book indoors!
