Roselyn Sidal: From Teen Queen to Hibiscus Festival Front-Runner!

Roselyn Clair Sidal, who was crowned the Hibiscus Teen Queen in 2017, is set to return to the spotlight at the 68th annual Hibiscus Festival, where she will compete in the esteemed Queens Category.

Sidal, whose past participation has left a significant impact, is proudly sponsored by Island Accommodation, a cozy lodging option in the heart of Suva. At 23 years old, she is nearing the completion of her bachelor’s degree in social work and journalism at Bhawani Dayal Arya College, blending her academic pursuits with her passion for public advocacy and community service.

Her commitment to equality is evident through her continued involvement in the Fiji Women’s Rights Movement Girls Program, which she joined in 2013, where she actively promotes equal rights beyond her studies. Additionally, Sidal is a proponent of empowering women and girls in sports, participating in various teams such as the Senior Suva Women’s soccer team, Nasinu Netball, and Northland Tailevu Women’s Futsal.

Sidal also honors her Fijian heritage and South Indian roots through her cultural pursuits in singing and dancing, reflecting the vibrant traditions of her community. Looking ahead, she aspires to establish her own NGO dedicated to using creative arts for advocacy, believing in their potential to express community issues and foster social change.

As she embarks on her journey in the Miss Hibiscus 2024 competition, Sidal is supported by the festival’s Gold Sponsors, FMF and Vodafone.
