Rokobua Naiyaga has been appointed the new Chair of the Higher Education Commission of Fiji, succeeding Steve Chand in this pivotal role. The appointment was made by Education Minister Aseri Radrodro in consultation with the Prime Minister on Tuesday.
Naiyaga brings over fifty years of rich experience in education, equipping her with a robust understanding of national education governance, public sector reforms, school leadership, and curriculum development. Her extensive qualifications position her well to steer the Commission’s strategic plans effectively.
Minister Radrodro congratulated Naiyaga, underscoring the vital function of the Higher Education Commission of Fiji (HECF) in promoting quality, accountability, and ongoing enhancement across the country’s higher education institutions. He pointed out the need for improved oversight, addressing systemic challenges, and fostering partnerships among all registered institutions to benefit students throughout Fiji.
Radrodro expressed his strong belief that Naiyaga’s leadership will propel the advancement of higher education standards and contribute to creating a more adaptive and future-oriented tertiary education sector in Fiji.
