Saula Luveitasau, one of two men found guilty in a robbery case, has been sentenced to serve five years of a six-year prison term before becoming eligible for parole. Representing himself, Luveitasau appeared before Justice Pita Bulamainaivalu in Suva to answer two counts of aggravated robbery.

Court documents indicated that Luveitasau, along with another individual, unlawfully entered the residence of Zheng Jinwen on two occasions in December three years ago. During the incidents, he utilized force against Mr. Jinwen, ultimately stealing $11,000 in cash and various items.

In a related matter, co-defendant Taito Soko Tuilevuka is scheduled for trial next year, with his bail application having been denied by Justice Bulamainaivalu, who also extended his production order. The case has been adjourned until November 27 to assess the readiness for trial.

This case underscores the serious repercussions of robbery and the legal system’s commitment to addressing such crimes. While Luveitasau faces significant time in prison, it also serves as a reminder of the opportunities for rehabilitation and the potential for change that can emerge from difficult circumstances.

Summary: Saula Luveitasau was sentenced to five years in prison for aggravated robbery, having used force while stealing $11,000. His co-defendant, Taito Soko Tuilevuka, awaits trial next year. The legal proceedings highlight the serious implications of such crimes, alongside the importance of seeking rehabilitation.
