The 26-year-old athlete surpassed fellow backrowers Fraser McReight and Harry Wilson after a standout season while donning the gold jersey. Valetini’s achievement places him in an elite group, becoming the third player in history to win back-to-back John Eales Medals, joining renowned players Michael Hooper and Israel Folau.

Throughout 2024, Valetini made significant contributions to the Wallabies, participating in every match and making the transition to blindside flanker after the second Test against Wales. His formidable performance included recording six turnovers, executing 78 tackles, and consistently making impactful carries during crucial moments of the season.

In addition to his personal accolades, Valetini’s name is now added to the list of rugby legends like Hooper, Folau, Marika Koroibete, David Pocock, Nathan Sharpe, and George Smith, all of whom have won multiple John Eales Medals.

Expressing his gratitude, Valetini shared, “Blessed and grateful to have won the award. I wouldn’t be able to do this without my teammates doing their jobs and the coaching staff for backing me to play my game.”

Valetini’s achievements this season highlight not only his individual talent but also the collective effort of the team, illustrating the importance of camaraderie and support in sports. His success serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes, demonstrating that hard work and teamwork can lead to outstanding recognition in the competitive world of rugby.
