The state of the roads at the Suva Bus Stand has raised considerable concerns among both bus operators and pedestrians. Bus operators have highlighted the growing number of potholes, which complicate navigation, particularly during busy peak hours.

In light of these issues, the Suva City Council (SCC) has assured the community that fixing the roads is a high priority. Tevita Boseiwaqa, the acting chief executive officer, stated that the SCC has been in continuous dialogue with the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) to tackle the problem.

“We are treating this matter with urgency,” Mr. Boseiwaqa stated. “We’ve engaged the FRA, and I assure the public that repairs will be initiated as soon as possible. The inclement weather has significantly contributed to the road degradation, and once conditions improve, we will commence repair work.”

This commitment from local authorities offers hope for a swift resolution to the road safety issues at the Suva Bus Stand. Continuous communication with the FRA and prioritizing repairs could lead to a significant improvement in transportation conditions, benefiting both bus operators and pedestrians alike.

In summary, while the current road conditions pose challenges, local authorities are actively working towards a solution, demonstrating a proactive approach to maintaining public infrastructure. The community can remain optimistic that necessary repairs will be enacted soon, contributing to a safer and more navigable environment for all.
