The recent improvement of road access in the Qawa area has been a game-changer for residents and students, thanks to the chip-sealing of two vital roads in the Northern Division. The upgrades to 350 meters of Qawa School Road and 130 meters of Vunivau Temple Road are designed to enhance mobility and safety for over 375 students attending Qawa Primary School, along with 30 surrounding households.

Head Teacher Mr. Rajnesh Swamy expressed gratitude for the upgrades, noting their profound impact on daily commutes. Previously, the roads were in poor condition, posing challenges particularly during rainy weather. “We are thankful for the excellent road upgrade,” he stated, highlighting the resulting safer and smoother routes that make travel more convenient.

The improved road conditions will also encourage parents to drop their children directly at the school gate, which is situated on a hilly area, making transportation much easier. Mr. Swamy anticipates that bus services might resume to the school, providing even more reliable access for students.

This project reflects a broader commitment to improving rural infrastructure across Fiji, similar to other recent initiatives aimed at enhancing connectivity and access to essential services like education and healthcare. For instance, residents in Koronivia have recently benefited from significant road works around Nakaikogo Primary School, helping to alleviate logistical issues faced by local families, especially during adverse weather.

Such developments not only promote physical access but also embody hope and progress for rural communities throughout Fiji. As these infrastructure improvements continue, they symbolize the potential for better living standards and community resilience. The focus on investing in rural accessibility is vital for ensuring that all Fijians can enjoy the fruits of development and connectivity.
