A new champion will emerge in the under-14 division of the Fiji Secondary Schools Vodafone Super Deans competition. Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) eliminated the reigning champions, Marist Brothers High School (MBHS), with a 13-0 victory in their semi-final match at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

From the start, both teams demonstrated their desire to win, but it was RKS that successfully capitalized on their opportunities, leading 5-0 at halftime after a tough first half. The second half remained competitive, but RKS again took control, scoring a try and successfully converting a penalty to secure the win.

Team manageress Eta Waqasaqa Vakalutugone dedicated the victory to their under-18 and under-19 teams, which were unable to advance beyond the quarter-finals. She stated, “In RKS, the U18 is a very special team but they fell short in the quarter-finals, and we just want to dedicate this to them and to our U19. In RKS, we refer to our U19 as ‘timi ulumatua,’ so this win is also for them.”

The success of the RKS team was attributed to the unwavering support from the school administration, alumni, and especially the parents who have stood by them since the beginning. RKS will head back to Suva next week for the grand final, aiming for the title.
