A 40-year-old man faces charges for assaulting his 38-year-old wife, while a 38-year-old man has been charged with causing actual bodily harm to a 41-year-old woman. These incidents are part of a report featuring data from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions outlining crime statistics related to non-sexual violence for November 2024.

In a separate case, a 49-year-old man was charged with intent to cause grievous harm after allegedly stabbing a victim in the back with scissors during a confrontation. Another case involving a 41-year-old man who reportedly assaulted a 41-year-old with the intent to inflict grievous harm was discontinued due to the victim being uncontactable.

Additionally, there have been reported thefts and robberies, where cash and various items were stolen during a series of aggravated robbery and burglary incidents, including break-ins at homes, shops, and street muggings. Notably, a 17-year-old together with a 19-year-old was charged with burglary and theft.

In a concerning act of vandalism, two men aged 34 and 29 have been charged with aggravated burglary after allegedly breaking into Tilak High School in Lautoka, where they damaged property including computer screens and filing cabinets. Furthermore, two 19-year-old men have been charged after allegedly stealing from Kids First Kindergarten in Suva, taking school furniture and electronic equipment.

Overall, November recorded a total of 27 counts of non-sexual violence offences, resulting in charges against 21 individuals, including two juveniles. Among the charges are two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, four counts of aggravated robbery, and various other criminal activities. Notably, 13 victims were identified in these incidents, including two cases where the accused and victims were related.

Despite the troubling nature of these incidents, they highlight ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address and mitigate crime within the community. Continued vigilance and community engagement may foster a safer environment and encourage reporting of offenses to prevent further occurrences.
