The South Pacific Stock Exchange (SPX) is anticipating the listing of two to three new organizations in the upcoming year, following the successful initial public offering (IPO) of SUN Insurance. This positive development reflects a growing investor interest in share investments since SUN’s listing, which was marked by significant oversubscription, according to SPX Chief Executive Officer Sheraj Obeyesekere.

Obeyesekere stated that while no formal applications have been received yet, several companies are actively preparing for their potential listings. “We should see two to three listings in 2025 at least,” he mentioned confidently.

To bolster the upcoming listings, SPX plans to initiate a public awareness campaign focused on the benefits of share investments. Obeyesekere noted, “There is a demand for responsible and regulated investments among the public, and we want to position share investments as a go-to option.” In addition, the stock exchange will review its listing rules in 2025 to broaden the scope for capital raising, aiming to accommodate a wider range of businesses while ensuring that they align with the foundational principles of stock market operations.

Furthermore, SPX seeks to enhance its international presence by participating in the World Federation of Exchanges Annual Meeting in Malaysia. During this event, the exchange plans to sign memorandums of understanding with various exchanges to facilitate technical expertise and knowledge sharing for its growth initiatives.

This is a promising time for the South Pacific Stock Exchange and its stakeholders, as the anticipated new listings and increased public awareness initiatives may lead to a more robust investment landscape in the region.

In summary, as SPX prepares for a more dynamic year, it reflects a commitment to enhancing investment opportunities and fostering a collaborative environment for both existing and future market participants.
