Last month, the incidence of crimes against women rose in several divisions across the country, although three divisions did report a decrease. According to a police statement, the Southern, Eastern, and Central divisions saw reductions of 3%, 21%, and 50% respectively, while other divisions experienced increases.
Out of 223 reported cases of crimes against women, 84% were related to assaults, and 16% involved sexual offenses. Notably, 40% of these incidents occurred within domestic environments involving spouses or partners.
Additionally, the Southern and Northern divisions reported decreases in serious crimes, with reductions of 14% and 9% respectively, while all other divisions recorded increases in serious crime rates.
