The two athletes expressed their gratitude to their coach, Iosefo Apisai of Nasealevu Village, Macuata, who highlighted his pride in the students’ achievements. Apisai stated that the girls were hostel students, which allowed him to implement a rigorous training schedule, contributing to their success. Under his guidance, their school was the most decorated in Macuata South, securing a total of five gold, three silver, and two bronze medals.

Koroi, who aspires to become a primary school teacher, acknowledged her father’s support in her educational journey. She expressed her ambition to represent Fiji in the Olympic Games, fueled by her faith. Rabuliwaisavu, 13, shared her excitement at being the first in her family to earn a scholarship and medals. She thanked her father, a yaqona farmer, for his blessings and encouragement in pursuing her passion for athletics.

Inoke Biaunisala, the head teacher of Vudibasoga Catholic School, expressed pride in the students’ achievements, noting an increase in scholarship winners from last year. With a focus on continued preparation for future success, he thanked all the students who contributed to the school’s remarkable performance at the championships.

This inspiring story demonstrates the power of dedication, support from educators and family, and the potential for young athletes to achieve their dreams. By showcasing the talents and hard work of these students, we can look forward to their future contributions to sports and education in Fiji.

Overall, the success of Koroi and Rabuliwaisavu highlights the importance of nurturing young talent and provides hope for aspiring athletes in the community. Encouragement from families and dedication from teachers will continue to pave the way for future achievements.
