The inter-house competition at Dilkusha Methodist High School, held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, was a vibrant showcase of athletic talent, featuring 180 students who participated in a range of events. Principal Satyendra Singh highlighted the intense competitiveness of the event, particularly among sub-junior and junior grades, which underscored the growing athletic prowess within the school.
This year’s emphasis on track events brought notable attention to the outstanding runners, with Singh pointing out that the rise in talent resulted in a larger selection of potential athletes compared to last year’s events. He mentioned that the school aims to select around 50 students for the upcoming Triple N zone meet, an impressive jump from the 30 participants in the previous year.
Singh expressed ambitions for students to secure as many gold medals as possible at the zone meet, with the ultimate goal of qualifying for the prestigious Coca-Cola Games. He acknowledged that reaching these objectives will necessitate dedicated training and preparation to ensure the athletes are well-prepared for the challenges ahead.
