Bhawani Dayal Arya College is gearing up to participate in the upcoming Triple N Zone Athletics competition, taking place next week at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. With over 70 athletes set to represent the Nakasi-based school, athletics coach Jone Rokotuisuva emphasized that the primary objective for this year is for the students to gain valuable experience rather than solely focusing on winning.
Rokotuisuva highlighted that this is the first competitive outing for most of the athletes, many of whom are competing for the first time this year. He stated, “We are telling the athletes to do their best; whatever the result is, we will accept. It’s all about them coming for exposure.” The college has developed a three-year plan to foster athletic growth, viewing this competition as a critical stepping stone to achieving their long-term goals.
Preparations have been progressing well, with daily training sessions held in the weeks leading up to the event. Coach Rokotuisuva is rallying parents and alumni to come out in support of the athletes, stressing the importance of community involvement in fostering a thriving athletic environment.
This sentiment resonates with the ongoing growth of school athletics in Fiji, as highlighted by similar competitions held recently, such as the Coca-Cola Lautoka and Yasawa Zone athletics competition, which featured numerous schools and emphasized the spirit of community support. As excitement builds for the Triple N Zone, which also serves as a precursor to the National Championship Coca-Cola Games scheduled for April 24-26, the commitment to nurturing young talent is clearly evident across the region.
The community’s involvement and support for student athletes not only enhance the competitive spirit but also pave the way for a promising future in athletics within Fiji. Fans can look forward to watching the competitions live on FBC Sports, further encouraging a vibrant sports culture and showcasing the journey of these young athletes as they chase their dreams.
