“Rising Stars: Ba Women’s FC Prepares for Historic OFC Champions League Challenge”

Ba Women’s Football Club, guided by coach Charlene Lockington, is gearing up for the 2025 OFC Women’s Champions League, which will be held in Tahiti this coming May. This tournament will bring together top women’s club teams from around the Oceania region, offering a chance not only to win the title but also to qualify for the first-ever FIFA Women’s Champions Cup, which further opens pathways to the 2028 FIFA Women’s Club World Cup.

As part of Group A, Ba will compete against formidable teams, including Henderson Eels FC from the Solomon Islands, Penama Tigers FC from Vanuatu, and Tupapa Maraerenga FC from the Cook Islands. Coach Lockington is optimistic about their preparation, noting strong performances in build-up matches, including a recent win against Suva that has boosted the team’s confidence.

A noteworthy aspect of this year’s squad is the inclusion of four U16 players, highlighting the club’s dedication to nurturing young talent and ensuring the future of women’s football in Fiji. This commitment bodes well for the sustainability and growth of the sport in the region.

Additionally, Ba Women’s FC has recently secured a new sponsorship deal with Rooster, which will provide essential support as they head into the tournament.

This significant opportunity not only allows Ba Women’s FC to showcase their capabilities but also reflects the increasing enthusiasm for women’s football in Oceania. As the tournament date nears, the excitement is palpable, signaling hope that such events will inspire future generations of female athletes and contribute to the ongoing growth of women’s sports in the region.
