Four exceptional players from the ANZ Marama Cup have been chosen to join the Vodafone Fijiana XV extended squad for their upcoming matches against Scotland and the Netherlands this month. The players, representing the Suva Women’s team, are Alisi Galo, Alfreda Fisher, Adi Salaseini Railumu, and Ivamere Nabura.
This selection underscores the importance of the ANZ Marama Cup as a vital platform for identifying and developing rugby talent in Fiji. Mike Legge, the coach of Fiji Rugby’s High Performance Women’s Program, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the selections.
“It’s a very special moment for the HPU Women’s Program to welcome these new girls into the Fijiana squad for the upcoming tour. Currently, we have 12 players from our High-Performance group in that squad,” Legge stated.
He highlighted the crucial role of local competitions in creating opportunities for players who aim to compete at national and international levels.
“The dream of every HPU girl is to wear the Fijiana jersey and to play for the Fijiana Drua. Their selection demonstrates that there is a pathway available for our local players, especially those participating in the ANZ Marama Cup,” he added.
