Tony Chan, a 24-year-old medical student, emphasizes the crucial role of support and encouragement from others in achieving personal success. During the 2024 University of Fiji Graduation held at the Saweni Campus in Lautoka, he earned an impressive five medals, including the prestigious titles of Outstanding Student in Internal Medicine, Outstanding Student in Paediatrics, and Outstanding Student in Community Health and Family Service. Additionally, he was one of only two students to receive a gold medal award and the Vice-Chancellor Award.

Reflecting on his journey, Tony noted the difficulties he faced being separated from his family during the COVID pandemic. He expressed gratitude toward his family, classmates, and lecturers—particularly Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete—for their unwavering support and motivation throughout his six-year educational journey.

Surprised by the number of awards he received, Tony credited his determination as a quality that his educators recognized. He acknowledged his parents as his primary mentors, emphasizing their influence on his achievements.

Tony believes that the medals and certificates he earned will lead to numerous opportunities within the medical field, paving the way for a bright future ahead.
