Shana Wise, a swimming representative from Drasa Avenue, is making significant strides towards her aspirations in the National Schools Age Group Championships 2025. Following her successes in the competition, Wise has already secured a silver and a bronze medal in the 400m and 50m backstroke events, achieving two out of the three medals she aimed for prior to the championships.

As a final-year primary school student, Wise describes the competition as intense but is determined to rise to the challenge. With only three events left to compete in, she is on track to achieve her ultimate goal of five medals. Inspired by Fiji representative Rosemary Rova, Wise not only hopes to make her school and family proud but also dreams of swimming alongside her idol in regional and international competitions.

The championship experience has been thrilling for Wise, who is preparing for tougher challenges in her remaining events against swimmers in the Under 13 and Under 14 categories. “I hope to take back medals; I already have one silver and one bronze,” she stated, expressing her determination to clinch more medals before the competition concludes.

The National Schools Age Group Championships, currently broadcast live on FBC Sports, is more than just a competition for Wise; it represents her dedication and commitment to the sport of swimming.

This year’s event, which aims to nurture young talent, aligns with other notable swimming competitions in Fiji, highlighting the increasing participation and enthusiasm among young athletes. The spirit of determination shared by competitors like Wise demonstrates a promising future for swimming in Fiji, encouraging other aspiring swimmers to pursue their goals with passion and dedication.
