Rising Star Sarah Nasilivata Set to Dazzle at Suva Zone One Finals!

Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School’s athlete Sarah Nasilivata is poised to shine in the junior girls’ 200 and 100-meter finals at the Suva Zone One Athletics competition today. The 15-year-old standout previously contributed to her sub-junior team’s success, earning gold in the 4x100m event at last year’s Fiji Finals, along with another gold in the 100m.

Yesterday, Nasilivata excelled in the 200-meter heats, securing first place, and continued her momentum by winning the 100-meter heat in the morning. As a Year 10 student, she’s set to make her mark in the finals this afternoon.

“Training over the past few weeks hasn’t been easy due to upcoming exams, but I am thrilled to have won the 100m and 200m heats, and I’m eager for the finals,” Nasilivata stated, highlighting her commitment to both academics and athletics. She also mentioned dedicating significant time to mental preparation for the competition and the forthcoming Fiji Finals.

The finals are scheduled with the girls’ 100m at 12:40 PM, followed by the 200m finals at 1:40 PM. Fans can watch the athletics event live on FBC Sports.

The event exemplifies a thriving athletics culture in Fiji, showcasing young talent’s determination and dedication. As emphasized in similar athletics gatherings, such competitions not only test athletic prowess but also build community spirit and promote a positive environment for youth sports. The continued support from schools and families fosters a hopeful future for athletics in the region, encouraging young athletes to pursue excellence while overcoming challenges.
